# Im Alter von 69 Jahren: David Bowie an Krebs gestorben!

Gerade noch hatte ich über **David Bowies** aktuelles (und leider für alle Zeiten letztes) Album **Blackstar** gesprochen. Heute liest man auf der offiziellen **Facebook-Seite** des Künstlers, dass er am 10\. Januar – zwei Tage nach seinem 69\. Geburtstag – nach einem 18 Monate andauernden Kampf gegen den Krebs friedlich im Kreise seiner Familie verstorben sei:

»January 10 2016 - David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.«

Sein Sohn **Duncan Jones** bestätigte diese traurige Nachricht bei **Twitter** inklusive eines Fotos, das ihn als Kind zusammen mit Vater Bowie zeigt:

**Toni Visconti**, langjähriger Produzent von **David Bowie**, der auch mit ihm am letzten Album ★ gearbeitet hatte, bestätigte, dass er seit einem Jahr von **Bowies** Erkrankung wusste. Dieses Album sei sein Abschiedsgeschenk an die Fans:

»He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life - a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasnt, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.«

★ erscheint damit in einem ganz anderen Licht. Die Musikwelt verliert einen weiteren großartigen Künstler. 😢 Trauernd danken wir für alles, **Mr. Bowie**!
